If visiting the dentist causes your little one fear or anxiety, we have solutions to help them get the dental care they need.
Learn more about dental sedation for your child
At The Pass Pediatric Dental Group, we understand that not every patient feels comfortable visiting the dentist. Sadly, many adults who experience fear or anxiety around their dental visits report that it stemmed from a bad experience they had as a child.
The Pass Pediatric Dental Group and her team strive to make every child feel comfortable and secure when they visit our office whether they are feeling anxious or have special needs that make getting dental treatments challenging.
Sedation dentistry is one way in which we can help our patients feel at ease during dental procedures, and we offer a few different levels of sedation that are designed to meet your daughter or son where they’re at and help them get the dental care they need.
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is delivered through a nose mask that is comfortable for your child to wear during their procedure. The sedative takes effect quickly and helps your child relaxed during restorative or surgical procedures. Since the impact of nitrous wears off when the mask is removed, they can easily and comfortably return to their normal activities.
Typically only used for select cases, oral sedation is delivered through medication that is taken one hour before your little one’s procedure. This medication offers more profound relaxation for patients who might need more complex procedures or have severe anxiety; however, due to the nature of the medicine, its effects last longer, and we advise that your child rests for the remainder of their day.
If your child needs surgery, The Pass Pediatric Dental Group may recommend general anesthesia. General anesthesia uses certain medications that cause sleep. While your son or daughter is asleep they will not be alert, nor will they experience any pain.
The medication is delivered through an intravenous (“IV”) line, and The Pass Pediatric Dental Group works directly with an anesthesiologist who monitors your child’s heart rate and vital signs throughout the procedure. The anesthesiologist can adjust the medication as needed during the procedure to ensure that your son or daughter stays safe and asleep the entire time.
General anesthesia is an excellent option for children who have severe anxiety, special physical or mental needs, or who need complex treatment procedures to maintain their oral health.

What Our Patients Say
As a child I had a horrible experience with a dentist and that experience has made me terrified of any dental exams or dental work. I did not want my children to ever feel scared of the dentist. It was one of the most important goals for me, as a mom, to find a dentist my kids love. And with PASS pediatric dentistry we did. I have taken my kids to her for over 7 years and they LOVE her and the entire staff. My children look forward to their check ups. Any dental work they need, they are NEVER afraid or worried. The Dr. is so patient and kind. The staff is always happy and interact with kids. Her office is SO inviting and fun. Furthermore, the office is ALWAYS spotlessly clean. Being the “germaphobe” I am, it is super important that I take my kids to a safe clean dentist. PASS pediatric dentistry always sparkles. So blessed to have them for my kids dental needs.Jessica BaconMom of Allie 12 and Ace & Jack 9
