Preventive Dentistry
As a parent, you always strive to do what’s best for your child, and visits to the dentist are no exception. Did you know that your child should see their dentist every six months just like you? It’s true! Routine visits to your pediatric dentist in Beaumont will help your child acclimate and feel comfortable at the dentist as well as give them an opportunity to monitor your little one’s oral development.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit
Both The Pass Pediatric Dental Group and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) agree that your little one’s first visit should take place around the age of one year old, or six months after their first tooth arrives.
While this might seem too early, it gives us an excellent opportunity to begin building a relationship with your child, which helps them to feel comfortable and confident about future dental visits. It also allows us to monitor your little one’s oral development so we can catch any potential concerns in their earliest stages.

As Your Child Grows
When your child gets older, we begin to incorporate dental cleanings into their visits as they feel comfortable. We will always explain exactly what’s going to happen during a procedure to your child before starting any treatment so they will feel at ease when it’s time for dental procedures.
As they grow, The Pass Pediatric Dental Group may recommend some additional treatments for your children such as dental sealants or fluoride treatments.
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that strengthens and protects developing teeth from tooth decay and cavities. Fluoride treatments are easy to incorporate into your child’s preventive visits, so they don’t require any extra time from your busy schedule.
Dental sealants are thin protective coatings that we paint over the surfaces of your child’s back teeth. This coating seals their teeth, fills in pits and grooves, and protects them from the acids and bacteria that cause cavities.
We can usually complete sealants in one visit, as they are a fast and effective procedure that is non-invasive and typically doesn’t even require dental anesthetic.
Protect Your Child’s Oral Health
If your son or daughter participates in sports, The Pass Pediatric Dental Group will be happy to recommend the right sports guard to help protect their teeth and mouth. Since 40% of all dental emergencies are sports-related, it is essential to take measures to ensure that your athlete has the right protective wear. Typically, a custom mouthguard offers better protection than the generic guards found at your local sporting goods store. Because of their custom fit, professional dental mouth guards do not interfere with breathing.
At The Pass Pediatric Dental Group, our team is dedicated to your child’s well-being. We want them to have an excellent experience each time they visit so they look forward to their dental visits now and in the future.
